About Project

At Nay Min School, most of the children are of the Pa’O ethnic group and do not speak Burmese fluently. Therefore, Burmese is first taught as a language before academic subjects are introduced. The school currently has 235 students from KG to Grade 5, the majority of whom are young Karen children. Students from Grade 6 to Grade 10 attend other government schools.

With over 250 boarding students, the school faces severe shortages of sleeping space, and children have to sleep wherever possible, including in classrooms and prayer rooms. To address this need, a 2-storey dormitory equipped with double-deck beds was donated.

Following the completion of the dormitory, the student population grew to over 300, creating an additional need for classrooms. In response, the abbot agreed to dismantle the old school building to make way for a new one. A 2-storey school building with 8 classrooms was subsequently donated.
